Matt Spracklen, music influencer, editor of @London on Instagram (2.1 million followers) and host of the ‘Mainly Music…’ podcast has become one of the most talked about social media influencers and tastemakers within the music industry and is always on the lookout for the next break-through music act. Matt has played with Green Day and has worked with Mick Jones (The Clash), Ron Sexsmith, Elvis Costello, Joanne Cash and Foy Vance.
Matt is the host of popular music podcast 'Mainly Music With Matt Spracklen', produced by Sarah Bishop (who also produces Frank Skinner on Absolute Radio and Edith Bowman on Virgin Radio). The podcast is based around his public Spotify & Apple Music playlists and features new music, his own favourites and has guests appearances from the likes of Emeli Sande, Alt J, Sam Branson and many more. Matt also hosts an exclusive monthly music event with @London called Stageside, where artists showcase album launches and pre-tour shows in front of VIPs, industry and social influencers.
Matt has represented Virgin Radio at The Brits after presenting the Virgin Radio 3 hour takeover show as well as a New Year’s Special with Jamie East. He has also presented at the Chelsea Flower Show (interviewing David Haye and Bill Bailey), reported from the red carpet at the Mercury Prize, and his work includes interviewing backstage at huge events such as British Summertime Festival, the British Grand Prix, interviewing Formula 1 drivers during F1 Live and bands at Reading Festival. Other noteworthy radio appearances include Talk Radio talking about the week’s music news with Paul Ross on the morning show and guest hosting The Bushmills Alternative Hour on Hoxton Radio with resented and Metro editor, Elspeth Pierce. Matt has also appeared on the red carpet at movie premieres such as ‘Stratton’ and ‘Mudbound’.
Matt’s passion for music shines through all of his work and his huge social presence has caught the eye of big brands. This has led to acting and producing opportunities including working with the iconic soap legend, Alan Fletcher (Karl Kennedy) on a brand-new travel and photography documentary, due to air in the UK next year, as well as being a supporting artist on the hit Australian soap, Neighbours.
Through his intensely creative vision and bespoke music passion, Matt has mingled with artists such as Black Sabbath at their Ten Year War party, spent 4 days in NYC with Dave Stewart (Eurythmics) being part of his crew at The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon, partied with Noel Gallagher, Royal Blood and Ed Sheeran at The BRITs Warner Music after-party, was a guest at Ronnie Wood & Robert Plant’s Save The Children night and attended numerous awards including Inside Soap Awards and an after-party with Will I Am and Jessie J at the Royal Albert Hall.
Other projects Matt’s been involved in include Google’s Pixel Phone activation with KISS at the O2 in June 2017, where he attended with Sophie Simmons (Gene Simmons’ daughter) and promoted the new Google Live phone cases. Matt is a big Liverpool fan and also currently runs the Instagram channel for Liverpool’s International Academy in Salt Lake City, Utah.
Matt is the co-founder of global altruism movement ‘Do Something For Nothing’ that started with Josh Coombes cutting hair for the homeless. As one of Josh’s best friends, Matt documented it with photography and worked with the media to promote it, which resulted in the campaign going viral multiple times.
